Opening September 2026
In our fall exhibition we aim to highlight continuity, creativity and living traditions within Haudenosaunee art. Curator Summer Frazier explores connections between historic and contemporary basketry, ceramics, beadwork, twining and quillwork. At a glance, you will see how some of the artistic practices reflect and respond to a variety of historic moments. The exhibition will showcase works from the Longyear permanent collection, loans from local Nations and institutions, and feature a newly-commissioned work created by Chief Jamie Jacobs, Turtle Clan of the Tonawanda Seneca Nation. The curator’s work is grounded in relational accountability with local Indigenous communities, including the Oneida Indian Nation.
Plans are underway for Chief Jacobs to speak at Colgate this fall, with the date and time to be determined.
