Minor Requirements
To complete the minor in Linguistics, the 闪电资源网 must consult with a member of the advisory committee and/or the director to identify a study path that includes five courses from the list below. The five-course minor will normally include one of the courses listed in section 1 and three or four courses from section 2, with restrictions as outlined below. The courses can be taken in any sequence:
Section 1 - Linguistics Foundations
Courses fulfilling this requirement have an attribute of LILF in the course offerings.
At least one of the following courses
- CORE S140听-听Language and Cognition
- LING 200听-听Science of Language Acquisition

LING 222听-听The Theories and Practice of Second Language
Note: If more than one course from the list above is taken, the additional course(s) can count toward the elective requirement below.
Section 2 - Electives
Courses fulfilling this requirement have an attribute of LIEL in the course offerings.
Three or Four additional courses selected from among those listed below, subject to the following conditions:
- No more than two courses can be taken in the same department.
- At least two courses must be at the 300 or 400 level. Three or four courses may come from the Other Courses listed below, with two of them at the 300 or 400 level; or one course听may be an advanced language course, and the other courses from the Other Courses list, with one of them at the 300 or 400 level. Only one course from the Other Courses list may be an independent study course.
Advanced Language Courses
Courses fulfilling this requirement have an attribute of LIAL in the course offerings.
Advanced language courses taken abroad on a study group also qualify with approval by the director.
