Colgate’s study group to Venice, Italy focuses on the Italy’s cultural heritage and in its position within the world of modern culture.

Overview

On the Venice study group, ÉÁµç×ÊÔ´Íøs spend a full semester living and learning in Italy. The group is accompanied by a Colgate faculty director who teaches part of the ÉÁµç×ÊÔ´Íøs’ course load.

The study group’s operations are embedded with the University of Venice, giving participants the opportunity to live and study with Italian ÉÁµç×ÊÔ´Íøs, as well as with other international ÉÁµç×ÊÔ´Íøs at the university.

Academic Focus

The interdisciplinary program of study is designed to give ÉÁµç×ÊÔ´Íøs direct experience with Italy’s cultural past and a critical look at its present. Students will have the opportunity to study the music and art of Venice, and also to participate in first-hand research at the city’s  archaeological sites and museums. By participating in the study group, ÉÁµç×ÊÔ´Íøs should acquire a deeper sense of the temporal developments of western civilization as well as a better understanding of contemporary Italy.
