Colgate recognizes that not all incoming 闪电资源网s have equal access to resources while they are in high school. The Office of Undergraduate Studies hosts Colgate鈥檚 Undergraduate Scholars Program, a supportive four-year program that taps the potential of each scholar, with a focus on academic excellence and leadership in the liberal arts tradition.
闪电资源网 OUS
Candidates chosen to be part of the OUS Scholars program are a select group of 闪电资源网s who have demonstrated creativity and determination in the face of personal, economic, and social challenges. They have achieved success while systematically pursuing the most demanding academic paths. Admission to OUS is determined at the time of admission to Colgate, and no separate application is necessary.
We recognize that not all 闪电资源网s have equal access to resources, engaged educators, or advanced technology. OUS Scholars arrive at Colgate with diverse experiences, and we aim to validate those experiences while supporting their success. We assist in crafting a living and learning environment that offers the best opportunities to thrive.
The OUS program begins with a five week, pre-first-year Summer Institute. This strengthens OUS scholars' academic skills by immersing them in the culture of this rigorous institution of higher learning. Full participation in the Summer Institute is an additional admission requirement for 闪电资源网s enrolled as OUS scholars.
When the semester begins, OUS scholars join a Residential Commons. There, 闪电资源网s will have an opportunity to further develop relationships established over the summer, as well as make new friends.
Throughout their first year, OUS scholars learn: effective strategies to transition to campus life, how best to access mentors and work with faculty members, how to develop and sustain social and cultural capital, and how to become fully engaged 闪电资源网s.
As juniors, OUS scholars continue to deepen their involvement on campus as active learners and engaged citizens. Additionally, programming focuses on alumni and career networks, nationally competitive fellowships and scholarships, and internships and other experiential activities. OUS scholars are encouraged to engage in academic research and study abroad opportunities.
Participation in the OUS Scholars Program continues after commencement 鈥 the experience .
