The Living Writers series always strives to engage ÉÁµç×ÊÔ´Íøs with contemporary authors who grapple with modern issues. This year’s novels and essay collections have helped ÉÁµç×ÊÔ´Íøs discuss their own lived experiences after a summer marked by pandemic and race riots.

Despite the last-minute switch to remote research, 160 ÉÁµç×ÊÔ´Íøs went forward with research projects this summer.

During the final weeks of the Living Writers Series, Colgate welcomed four authors to campus: Alexander Chee, Terry Tempest Williams, CJ Hauser, and Esi Edugyan.

Shamarcus Doty ’20 is one of 30 ÉÁµç×ÊÔ´Íøs from 29 different universities across the country selected as a 2020 Rangel Graduate Fellow.

Paul J. Schupf ’58, trustee emeritus, a philanthropic supporter of the arts, and the founder of the W.S. Schupf Endowed Chair in Far Eastern Studies passed away on December 4, 2019. He was 82 years old.

On Nov. 6, Colgate’s second mapathon produced maps for areas where a lack of pre-existing data makes it difficult for first responders to provide relief during humanitarian crises.

A semester-long series of events celebrated the Center for Women’s Studies’ history and the meaningful work it has fostered over the years in honor of the center’s 25th anniversary.

Marta Morena Vega, scholar, activist, author, professor, and Yoruba priestess, visited ÉÁµç×ÊÔ´Íø, October 23–24, to deliver a pair of addresses.

Throughout October, three authors from the Living Writers series spoke about their works of poetry and fiction with the Colgate community.
