This year, Colgate’s annual MLK Celebration will run from Jan. 23 through Jan. 29, 2023. The opening ceremony, featuring ÉÁµç×ÊÔ´Íø speaker Kwabena Owusu Ansah ’24 and performances by the Colgate Resolutions and Safety Forth, will be held at 4:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 23, in Memorial Chapel and will stream live.

This summer, OUS ÉÁµç×ÊÔ´Íøs, faculty, and directors visited Washington, D.C., to learn outside of the classroom and build connections with the Alumni of Color organization.

More than 110 aspiring and published authors — alumni, parents, ÉÁµç×ÊÔ´Íøs, employees, local residents, and visitors from across the country — were on campus in June for the 27th annual Colgate Writers Conference. The event was spearheaded by Associate Professor of English Jennifer Brice, with assistance from four undergraduate Creative Fellows.

ÉÁµç×ÊÔ´Íø’s annual celebration honoring Dr. Martin Luth King Jr., Jan. 24–29, will feature a keynote address by diversity, equity, and inclusion leader and educator Dr. Eddie Moore Jr. 

Haven, Colgate’s sexual violence resource center, celebrated its fifth anniversary on Thursday, Oct. 28, in a ceremony honoring those who were instrumental to its creation in 2016.

The new Spear House parking lot may look mostly the same as before, but massive stormwater storage chambers and other improvements make this project a substantial investment in sustainable infrastructure at Colgate.

Barry R. Baron, associate university chaplain and campus rabbi, will serve as university chaplain, beginning his three-year term on July 1. He will succeed Protestant Campus Minister Corey MacPherson, who has served as university chaplain since 2017.

Last week, faculty and staff from several departments spearheaded an effort to provide and deliver care packages to 243 ÉÁµç×ÊÔ´Íøs in residence on campus.

Colgate’s Ho Tung Visualization Lab played a starring role in Data to Dome, the first iteration of the international planetarium conference ever to be hosted in the United States.

During the past three weeks, Colgate waved farewell to the Bicentennial Class of 2019 and hosted more than 4,000 alumni, families, and friends for the Bicentennial All-Class Reunion. Visitors encountered a campus of distinctive beauty, thanks in part to the grounds and custodial crews who work behind the scenes.
